Moody Environment Number 1

Thought I'd take a break from the characters and focus on some BG's.. I was striving for those uber cool outlandish sci-fi concepts your man Sparth effortlessly cranks out. I feel the walls could still use a bit o texture to them. Any crits, comments or tips are welcome! Thank you to the good souls posting on Flickr for the sunset photo...

really nice from a design point of view!! some great shapes!
but I agree with you, the walls could use a bit more texture, and perhaps the blacks are a bit too black? but thats just me being silly. its really nice!!

Thanks Nate! Youre not being silly, in fact youre right! I gotta figure out how to pump more color into those darks. What i would do to be a master of the dark arts.. wheres palpatine when you need him?!

Its slick Rick. Maybe a ship to give some more perspective ,depth ..this would add to this already delicious pie I think...just do it alright!!!

wow, slick! great light atmosphere
I wouldn't worry about the blacks, as its... how do you say in english... back to the sun? er...
well the sun's behind it so its nice in silhouette like it is.
Its true that a little texture, maybe a simple paper texture on the buildings or a bit of grain (the bg's quite grainy) would make it blend nicely.
Oh and maybe you could reverse the gradient on the last building (dark at the bottom and light on top), maybe?
very inspiring stuff as usual!

Thanks Addie!
Those are some great tips. Its good to hear opinions from a fresh set of eyes.. some grain to the walls would unify it a lot more. I'll have to fiddle with it when i gots some more time.
Thanks for stoppin by!
